General Information:
| 1. | All visitors travelling to Bhutan require a visa, excepting the travelers from India, Bangladesh and Maldives. Visa is obtained from Bhutanese travel and tour operators after full payment has been made. Bhutanese Embassies and Missions abroad do not issue visa for private visitors to Bhutan. Air tickets can only be issued after the approval of the visa. |
| 2. | November-January is the best season of the year for bird watching and to trek in the lower altitudes. Spring season i.e. from February–April is best for rafting, kayaking and trekking in moderate altitudes. Summer season i.e. from May-August with light monsoon showers should not dissuade the travelers because with adequate planning and equipment one can trek around high mountain areas. Autumn i.e. September-October is the high season in Bhutan traditionally because it has the highest number of Tshechus and trekkers will enjoy the clear view of the majestic mountains and the picturesque landscape of Bhutan. |
| 3. | The tourism industry in Bhutan is based on sustainability which indicates that tourism must be environmentally and ecologically friendly. Socially and culturally suitable and economically feasible. Therefore it strongly adheres to the ‘High Value low Volume’ with the number of visitors regulated to manageable level through a government regulated tourist staff. |
| 4. | Visitors are not required to undergo any medical examination. It is as per the requirement of the visitors that the can immunize themselves by consulting their doctor for certain preventable diseases. Bhutan has a good facility and all the districts have BHU’s and about 29 hospitals for any health related problems. You can avail medicines from Thimphu for your travel as it has bigger medical stores as such there is no problem of any health hazards. |
| 5. | Crime rate in Bhutan is very low so safety of the visitors is well safeguarded and as such even the female visitors will not have any problems. Sexual harassment is generally unheard of as the society itself is well informed. As such tourists will not encounter any problems as they will have a travel guide and there is a rare chance of unpleasant encounters. |
| 6. | Visitors are requested to maintain a formal dress code and avoid using revealing clothes, shorts, skirts etc. as Bhutan is generally a formal place to be in. Bhutanese people have to wear formal dress while visiting the temples and Dzongs therefore long sleeved clothes and long pants and knee length dress for the ladies is advised on visits to these places. |
| 7. | Bhutan has a well and moderate accommodation facilities but one finds it very neat and clean hotels. There are a few resorts in the suburbs and one finds it a suitable place to be in, as such Bhutan Home Adventure will put their tourists in the best available hotels or resorts for their comfortable stay. | 8. | Bhutan has a varied range of weather pattern therefore appropriate clothing is required to visit Bhutan. Generally warm clothes are advisable as morning and evenings get a little colder and for some seasons one is advised to get clothing to tackle light showers. |
| 9. | Visitors are allowed to bring in their certain personal articles of high value; however the tourist is allowed to bring only one bottle of spirit not larger than one liter and one carton of cigarette (containing 200 pieces) subject to 100 percent customs duty and sales tax. |
